Vol 31 No 122 (2024)
Issue Description

Dear Readers,

By publishing the 122nd issue of MIR we are starting the second century of publishing our specialized magazine MIR. I myself am very happy, because due to the lack of Esperanto-language texts there was a real possibility of stopping the publication of MIR, but thanks to the fact that it has been possible for a long time in our magazine to publish articles in other languages with a mandatory summary in Esperanto, we can continue to exist.

During this time it happened that Esperanto can coexist without problems with other languages, especially with the English language, which is widely used in medicine and other health care departments. I specifically mention this, because next year we are planning to organize the 23rd IMEK at the Medical University in Kaunas (Lithuania) and during this scientific meeting a scientific session of doctors in Esperanto will be organized. Still in this year, the main theme of the 23rd IMEK will be proposed, which will generally relate to PREVENTION – DIAGNOSIS – TREATMENT – REHABILITATION of various diseases. On the side of local organizers, IMEK will be co-organized by an eminent Esperantist Aida Čižikaitė from Kaunas (Lithuania) and if everything goes well we will meet next year at the headquarters of the Medical University in Kaunas.
Organizers offer the following dates:
a pre-congress will be held in the city of Palanga from June 25 to June 28, 2025,
the 23rd IMEK will be held in Kaunas at the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences from June 28 to July 5, 2025,
the post-congress is offered as part of the BET – Baltic Esperanto Days in Kaunas, in Vytautas Magnus University) from the 5th of July to the 13th of July 2025.

At this opportunity, I would like to inform you that UMEA provides the English-Esperanto Medical Glossary and the Esperanto-English Medical Glossary written by prof. Saburoo Yamazoe from Maebashi (Japan), therefore those interested in the mentioned glossaries please contact the President of UMEA and me.

I will gladly accept all cooperation and help to continue the publication of our historic MIR.
